Check My Eligibility — Free →If you qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid (sometimes called "dual eligible"), you may be able to enroll in a Dual Special Needs Plan (D-SNP). These plans are specifically designed for people who have both programs and often include extra benefits that standard Medicare plans don't offer.
D-SNP plans are a type of Medicare Advantage plan, which means they replace your Original Medicare coverage. But unlike standard Medicare Advantage, they're tailored to coordinate your Medicare and Medicaid benefits together — often with little to no premium and reduced copays.
Many people who qualify don't know these plans exist — or assume they can't get anything beyond what they already have. That's where I come in.
Benefits vary by plan, carrier, and county. Here are some of the extras that may be available in your area:
Routine cleanings, exams, fillings, and in some plans, dentures and crowns.
Annual eye exams plus an allowance for glasses or contacts.
Hearing exams and hearing aid coverage or allowances.
Rides to and from doctor appointments, the pharmacy, and other covered services.
A monthly or quarterly card to purchase over-the-counter health products — bandages, vitamins, pain relief, and more.
Some plans include a grocery or meal allowance to support healthy eating and nutrition.
You may be eligible for a D-SNP plan if any of the following apply to you:
You currently have both Medicare and full Medicaid
You receive Extra Help (Low-Income Subsidy) for your Part D drug costs
You're enrolled in a Medicare Savings Program (QMB, SLMB, QI, or QDWI)
You receive SSI (Supplemental Security Income)
Your income is limited and you're not sure what you qualify for
Not sure if you qualify? That's okay — I can help you figure it out. There's no cost or obligation to check.
